HANDWEAVING WORKSHOP: CREATE A BOWL COASTER USING A MINI LOOM

What will we learn?
♦️ The basic materials of weaving: combed wool and its properties.
♦️ How to set up the warp on the loom: ensuring proper tension and structure.
♦️ The basic technique for weaving the weft: using the taffeta weave technique to create a compact and harmonious fabric.
♦️ Knotting and finishing: to provide stability and beauty to the final piece.
♦️ Tips: how to maintain and care for the woven piece.
Workshop Outline
✨ Introduction to materials and tools – We’ll get to know the undyed combed wool and other possible materials for weaving, the different types of looms, and the necessary tools.
✨ Warp setup – Learn how to correctly set up the warp threads on the loom.
✨ Chain or twining technique – A fixing technique used at the beginning and end of a weave to give stability, prevent unraveling, and add a neat finish.
✨ Weaving the weft – Apply the basic taffetan weave technique to build the bowl coaster fabric.
✨ Removing the piece from the loom and final knotting – We’ll stabilize and shape the piece to make it strong and functional.
✨ Finishing and collecting the piece – Each participant will take home the bowl coaster they created with their own hands.
Duration
This handweaving workshop lasts an hour and a half, combining theoretical explanation with practical activity. No prior experience is necessary—just the desire to learn and enjoy a creative and relaxing experience.
